Duke Energy Florida Announces Rate Increase  of for 2023

If approved by the FPSC, the changes will be effective in April 2023. The monthly impact to a typical residential customer using 1,000 kWh will increase $33.49 or about 20% beginning in April.

Commercial and industrial customers will see bill impacts ranging from a 19% to 37% increase.

Duke Energy Florida has announced that it will be implementing a rate increase for its customers starting in 2023. The rate increase is the result of rising fuel costs and the cost of repairs and restoration efforts following recent storms.

In order to mitigate the financial impact of the rate increase, Duke Energy Florida is providing financial assistance to eligible customers through its Energy Assistance Program. The program, which is funded by Duke Energy, provides bill credits and grants to help customers pay their energy bills. Customers who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of the pandemic may also be eligible for additional assistance.

“We understand that this rate increase may be difficult for some of our customers,” said Duke Energy Florida President, Catherine Stempien. “That’s why we’re committed to providing financial assistance to those who need it most. We’re also working to keep our costs down and improve the efficiency of our operations so that we can continue to provide affordable and reliable energy to our customers.”
